The zinc die-casting process is a process of organically combining and using the three die-casting production elements of die-casting alloy, die-casting mold and die-casting machine. The principle is to use high pressure to press the metal liquid into a precision metal mold cavity at a high speed. The metal liquid is cooled and condensed under the pressure to form a die-casting part. Cold and hot chamber die casting are two basic methods of zinc die casting process.
Advantage:
1. It can produce metal parts with messy shape, clear outline and thin-walled deep cavity. Because molten metal adheres to high fluidity under high pressure and high speed, it is possible to obtain metal parts that are difficult to process with other processes.
2. High material utilization. Because the precision of die-casting parts is high, it can be installed and used after a small amount of mechanical processing, and some die-casting parts can be directly installed and used. The material utilization rate is about 60% ~ 80%, and the blank utilization rate reaches 90%.
3. High production efficiency. Because of the high-speed filling, the filling time is short, the metal industry condenses quickly, and the zinc die casting operation cycle is fast. In various casting processes, the die-casting method has a high yield, which is suitable for mass production.
4. Easy to use inlays. It is easy to set the positioning mechanism on the zinc die-casting mold, which is convenient for insert-molding inserts and meets the local special performance requirements of the die-casting parts.
Disadvantages:
1. Because of the high-speed filling and rapid cooling, the gas in the cavity is too late to discharge, resulting in die castings often having pores and oxidized inclusions, and then reducing the quality of the die castings. Due to the expansion of the gas in the pores at high temperatures, the outer surface of the die castings will blister. Therefore, the die castings with pores cannot be heat treated.
2. The die-casting machine and die-casting mold are expensive and not suitable for small batch production.
3. The size of die castings is constrained. Due to the constraints of die-casting machine clamping force and die size, large die-casting parts cannot be die-casted.
Now die castings are widely used, indicating that the advantages of the die casting process are still greater than the disadvantages.
